Enjoying the weekend

Out for a hike-Axel leading the way
Abel coming along for the ride
Brian going off the beaten path
One of the many views
Axel helping dad with yard work
Such a good helper!
Abel is always watching Axel. Big brothers do the coolest things!
Of course once I said Axel don't touch Abel's head......what does he do? Poor Abel, I promise you'll catch up to your brother and be able to pick back! Soon enough...
I'm back to the cool mines full time now. Boo.... the boys are doing great at home with out me. Double boo... No really it's great that the boys are good. I just miss them when I'm working all day. At least I get to hold some babies at work once and a while-maybe that makes it worse? Axel has his open house for preschool next weekend. Wow, I can't believe that he's going to start preschool! I have the first day off of work at least so I can see him off. He is SO excited about starting 3 year old school. I think he has had his back pack and toys for show and tell ready for a month now! Brian and I will be volunteering at his preschool once a week. It gets a discount and I think it'll be fun to see what he is up to! And then we will each get time just with Abel once and a while. Otherwise we just having been enjoying the wonderful weather we have had this summer. It's been mostly sunny and around 70 with no humidity. It's lovely! We had a huge earthquake this week. It was a 5.3 on the rictor scale. That's the biggest I've felt so far. It woke me up and we felt the bed shaking for a while! Crazy...the funny thing is that the car alarm wasn't going off so I thought it was safe to go back to sleep. Sleep...oh blessed sleep will you come back to me again? Four hours at a time is just not enough!

Abel's 2 month stat's

We had Abel's 2 month doctor's appointment today. It was full of mean yucky shots (3 of them and one oral immunization). He did pretty well with all of them but it still makes mommy sad to see little ones get shots. It's so much easier being the nurse instead of mom!
Weight- 12 pounds 12.5 ounces (last weight was 8 lbs 1 oz at about 2 weeks of age) gain of a little over 4 lbs!
Length- 23 1/4 inches (last length was 21.5 inches-another 2 inch gain)
Head circumference - 40.5 cm ( I forget what this one was last time)

Needless to say Abel is growing nicely. He was about 90% for his weight. What a chunk. I love it. Way to go Abel. Momma is feeding you well. Our next visit is at 4 months. His doctor said that's when we get to start baby foods. Fun. Abel and dad have been doing well while I'm at work-they have had 2 days with out me now. I think it's harder on me then any one else. I hope it gets easier on me.

2 months

Abel is 2 months old now! I can't believe how fast the time has gone.
He loves bath time, just like Axel. If he's fussy all we have to do is wash him down and it helps calm him.
I was trying to catch one of his big mouth smiles that he love to flash but I missed it. Look at his double chin! What a chunky monkey:) He's also starting to coo and make baby sounds. I love it. I'm not sure what color his eyes are going to be yet. He seems to going darker-maybe brown like his dad and grandma's? If I remember right Axel's eyes were way more blue at the stage.
Here's Axel with his new piggy bank. He loves it. Thanks great grandma Hamblin! He's super excited about getting it full of money. He keeps raiding all my change every chance he gets. Maybe he can save up for a Disney trip or some thing cool like that? So I'm back to work-boo. I'm totally not ready but it helps that we are not doing daycare. I cried a little the night before but I kept it cool at work. Thankfully Brian can stay home with the boys. I worked one day last week and then I have two weeks of part time before I start back full time. It'll be a nice transition for all of us. I went to a 3 hour meeting last Wednesday and Abel didn't want to take a bottle from Brian at all. It made me a little nervous for Friday because I worked all day, but he did well and drank bottles well for dad.

Hamblin family visit ends

Rainbow off the deck
Axel had such a great time with his grandma's and grandpa. He loved wrestling, body slamming and arm wrestling grandpa. Watch out grandpa next time there will be two boys to wrestle!
My parent's and my boys. Once again it was great having my family here in our new state, new home and help us enjoy our new family member. I hope they had a good time. Can't wait for their next visit. Dad I'll have it jam packed again! Mom, dad and Brian went fishing on Monday. They were so busy that they didn't get to take pictures. They had big fish stories and it sounded like a blast. They caught cod, salmon and a rock fish. I guess the rock fish is a 200 year old fish-it's orange and had a poisonous spine. It sounds crazy-I heard it is really good to eat. At least they got some thing to send home. They didn't get a Halibut which was a bummer but next time. Dad you shouldn't have eaten the banana! (I guess it's bad luck to eat a banana when you go fishing and my dad ate one that morning right by the boat!) Next time I get to go and there will be NO banana's :)
Mom loved the picture of my mother in-law with Brian's gun so she needed her own. I think all the women feel a little Sarah Palin in them when they get out here!
Watch out Alaska! Momma's got a gun!!

Hamblin family visit's Alaska

So much seen in such a short time. My famil-mom, dad and Grandma Bev-were here for the last few days. It's been so great having family visiting. My dad said that he wanted to be bust so we kept them busy! We went on a glacier cruise from Whitter. It was fun to get out on the Prince William Sound and see some of all the amazing nature that Alaska has to offer.
Thumbs up!
This is a Salmon hatchery. The sea gulls were every where and you could see the salmon jumping up every where.
Sea otters-it's funny how there little feet and heads stick out.
Axel crashed out during the cruise.
Great Grandma Bev and Abel
Axel touching glacier ice
The family on front of surprise glacier-it was a little windy so Abel was all covered up.
Surprise glacier-the blue ice is so cool
another glacier-I forgot the name :)
You can kind of see the seal's on the rocks
oops-a repeat
Grandpa and Axel taking in the view
Looking at Portage glacier
On the top of Alyeska looking down
My parent's and grandma Bev
The top of Alyeska ski resort
Riding up the tram
At bird point
Snuggling the baby

I'm sure I missed some thing but here was a few pictures of what we have been up to. I should have up dated things daily but it's so hard to get time lately! It was great having the boys play with the grand parent's. Thanks for coming out to our new home guys! It's funny how long a post can take me now-I've been working on this for an hour! It sure seems like all the baby wants to do is eat, but he's growing great so that's all that matters. Back to work for me at the end of the week :( I get to do two weeks of part time and then back to the coal mines....boo. I am not ready to leave the baby.

Baptized in nature

Abel all ready for his baptism. Outfit was provided by his godmother Krisha
Here is his rocker hand-right on mom I'm ready!
I can't believe that Abel is already 6 weeks old! I love when his eyes are open and he checks out every thing.
Axel helping pastor Martin
Grandma and Great Grandma Hamblin walking up the trail with Axel
The whole clain after the baptism-besides Axel he didn't want to take pictures. Three years old's make there own plans some times! (we like to call it ADH-3)

Great Grandma and Axel on the trail. We had the baptism done at the Eagle River Nature Center. It was a beautiful day and it was great having family here to celebrate the day. The Hamblin clain has been here for almost a week now. I have a lot to up date on the blog but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Homer weekend

This is a panoramic picture of the Homer spit. Not to sure how it will look on the blog. Pictures don't do the place justice. The spit is a sand bar that hangs out in the ocean off of Homer. Homer is a little fishing town on the edge of the Kenai.
Rocky beaches of the spit with mountain's across. It still amazes me how many mountains are around us!
Mom and her boys walking down the spit.

Abel and dad snuggling in the hotel room.
Homer was full of wild life. There were bald eagles every where, seals, sea otters and we saw a moose on the way there and the way home. Homer is about a 5 hour drive south of Anchorage.

The boys snuggling in the morning
Need I say more? The picture below is one of the volcano's.
