Ansel cross country

 Ansel 7th grade cross country. He has been learning a lot and pushing hard. He said it’s a lot but the people are great and helps him show up!

Midwest quality conference

 I had the opportunity to attend the Upper Midwest Quality Conference themed Together in Legacy:Celebrating impact, inspiring the future. I was also able to showcase my quality project: Deployment to Integration: patient safety and change management lessons from large - volume infusion pump interoperability!  This work highlights the important role of super users and peer to peer training in strengthening practice, supporting compliance, and advancing successful change and transformation.  One of my favorite quotes of the day: “ someone is learning by how you show up.” Well this is me: showing up, leaning into change, transformation and the power of peers next to us!

In a nutshell: I helped lead a team to connect out IV pumps to our electronic medical records. Nurses scan the med, the pump and now it connect with the health records! Wow. It’s been a huge project to be a part of. Every inpatient unit and procedure area at Mayo Clinc Rochester now does this. My poster represents how we pulled in staff(super users) to help train and get buy in for the change. It also highlights that we have had 50% in reduction in certain (weight base doses) medication errors. So cool! 

I really enjoy quality, safety and enhancements to nursing practice. (When did I become such a nerd?! )

 This year we grew potatoes! We grew a lot of potatoes! 

Detroit Lakes

The whole crew went on a camping trip to Detroit Lakes. We grilled food, ordered pizza, hung out at the lake, got sunburned, hunted down trolls and told stories around the fire. It was a wonderful and hot weekend. Even made a pit stop at a couple thrift stores.

What a wonderful weekend together. It’s been a weird summer with many changes as the boys are all getting older. I know this a what is supposed to happen but it makes me happy and sad to see my crews shift around me. We can all feel Axels next chapter right in front of us and miss him already. I’m so lucky when I get time dedicated to us just being together. It was a perfect last trip as a whole crew (with Sydney even!). She is so sweet and love having her with us.
