5 months

Abel is 5 months old! Here are a few shots from a session at the photo lady's house.
Drooling baby.
I've had enough mom. He was smiling as soon as I took him off his tummy. He tolerates tummy time but he prefers to lay on his back. Brian saw Abel roll over twice this week. Of course I've missed it so far :( I'm sure I'll get pictures soon.

Sushi and chopsticks

I finally got to try sushi. I've been wanting to for a while and couldn't when I was pregnant. Brian thought I was going to throw up. He's so silly about seafood. I had a California roll. (it only has crab meat which didn't seem as scary) I actually really like it. I will definitely be open to trying it again.
Axel got fried rice. He was rocking the chop stick. The guy put on this little plastic thing that holds the sticks together. He thought it was a pretty cool way to eat.

Girl day

Last Sunday I had a girl's day out. It was my friend Bethany's 30th Birthday. We went to our favorite place to eat-Jack Sprat- in Girdwood and then went for a hike. It was a beautiful day.
The sun was out and the skies were blue. It may have been the last hike of the year with out snow on the ground :(
They call this the butt tree! I guess there is a calender that has this tree with different thongs on it-a new one for each season. I don't think I want to see a thong that big :)
Eating at Jack Sprat. I love this place. The most amazing food. Yam fries and all kinds of funky fun stuff!
This is the most EPIC french toast I have ever had. It had banana burlee on top with whip cream. Yummy!
Even though I had a great day (it was the first day I've left Abel and Axel since the baby has been born-besides work) I missed my boys so much. I ended up working Saturday this weekend also-trying out the general ped's floor for a little overtime. (inpatient nursing) I cried on the way home because Abel was already in bed. I missed a bedtime :( Then I cried again when Brian said that he gave both the boys a bath. Man I'm emotional some times. I just really conflict on wanting to work but missing my boys when I do. It sucks.. Thankfully Brian gets to be the one I leave them with. I probably would cry every day if I had to leave them at a daycare.
Abel updates-he's trying new foods. We've tried one new food each week. First rice cereal, then green beans. The next week we tried banana's and this week we are trying carrots. He's really learning how to swallow his spoon fulls. I mix all the food with the rice cereal. It's so fun watching his reaction to food. He wasn't to sure on the green beans, of course he loved the banana's and actually did really well with the carrots. I even got a second serving for him tonight and he ate it all.

Abel tries cereal

After Abel's last doctor visit she gave the go for trying food. So I had to go out and get some baby rice cereal right away. Here is Abel trying his first bite. He wasn't to sure about it at first but he ended up maybe eating one or two spoons full. (after scooping and re-scooping them into his mouth many times) :)
Oh..I forget how fun but messy it is to feed little ones!
I'm excited to kept trying new foods with him. I think we will stick with the cereal for a few weeks and then slowly introduce more food.

4 months

Axel reading to his brother
Abel had his 4 month doctor appointment this Thursday. He weighed in at 15 pounds 4 ounces (50th %) . He was 26 inches long (95th %). So he's long I guess. He had to get 3 shots :( He handled the first one ok but once the nurse came at him with the second one he cried out and cried all the way to the waiting room. He calmed down for a little bit but then he saw the nurse again and starting crying until we left. Sorry buddy. Mom hates shots too.

First field trip

Today we went on our first field trip with Axel's preschool. We went to Pryah's farm in Palmer AK. The kids got a story about were veggie's come from and all the things you can cook with them.
Getting ready to board the hay ride. Axel was super excited to ride on the blue one.

These are the first fields we've seen since we moved here. I think there is one dairy farmer in the state. You never see a corn field when you drive-only forest's and mountains. It's weird for a MN girl!
Picking potatoes right from the ground!
Very different from MN fields and farms
Axel was super happy to see a tracker

Fresh carrots. Yummy
Of course Abel's always along for the ride! He did really well on the hayride but got scared and cried when every one yelled "Yeea-Ha"! Soon buddy you'll get to eat veggie's too!
