Black Eyes

So hear is the story:
Axel was playing around and literally ran right in to the coffee table.  I wasn't home when it happened but Brian said he hit the table straight on while running down the hall or some thing.  When I got home he had a big egg on his head and a head ache. Every thing else seems fine so we didn't bring him in to the doctors.  Then 3 days later he develops two black eyes! We totally didn't bring him in when it happened- he seemed fine, no headaches, no mental status changes- I feel like a terrible mother.  Each day he develops more color around his eyes but his nose isn't swollen any more.  I was nervous that he may have broken it?!  We did see his doctor today and ended up having an x-ray just incase any thing was broken but it seems like a just watch and let it heal kind of thing.  (we haven't heard about the x-ray result but I'm sure tomorrow) Poor Axel.  He starts 3rd grade next week and I think he still might have a brown/yellow bruise around both his eyes.
Ouch!!

Black eyes and a swollen nose

Mom- stop pestering me- I'm fine!!

Enjoying the heat

It sure has been a nice hot humid summer!  I love it.  I'll take tank tops and flip flops any day over winter gear!  I know fall is right around the corner but the boys and me are enjoying our last few weeks of summer.  We have been going to Lake Byllesby.  It's so nice having a lake in our town.

Vit D is good for the soul!

Summer Research

I have been trying to stay up to date with my graduate school progression but feel like time slips to quickly and I forget to write about it.  I decided to take a summer class this year to keep the flow going.  I struggled to stay focused- so hard when all three boys are home and it's sunny outside.  But I finished the class and have a good feeling about starting my end project.  (this class pretty much was the start of one of my chapters for my end thesis) So on to my last year of grad school!  So far my thesis is some one the track on The effects of alternative therapies and pain management in pediatric patients.  In this class I focused on Healing Touch, but I'm not sure if I'll highlight on one therapy or many to display the overall use and having a choice by using an  individualized care model?.... More to come...but cheers to getting one class closer. (Graduation plans May 2017!!)

A research class in the summer?!

Cabin Time

All packed and ready to go!

Brian helping the dogs and Big's HUGE kennel

Finally after a 4 hour drive we made it to the cabin!!
This year was the year of "are we there yet?"  I think Abel started asking before we even left town!  A four hour car ride is tricky with the boys but  with some snacks and lot's of fun conversation we all made it in one piece.
Ready to go fishing

Dad and Ansel on the dock

The mighty fisher men!
Axel even baited his own hook this year.

So determined!

Not many fish but it's fun trying

We always have to make a stop at the pizza place Zorbaz
