Axel is 13 months now! It's crazy thinking back 1 year ago. He is so much fun. He isn't walking yet but he walks along every thing and likes to get around with his walking toy. He is starting to get more daring and reach for the table or chair that is just out of his reach but he knows that he can go down to his knees and be faster. Soon he'll be truckin all over.
He has 4 teeth now. 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. He is a pretty good eater. It just depends the day. He really likes cheese, pasta, oranges and gold fish crackers. He is starting to use his sippy cup more but he really likes his bottle and I don't think I'll get him to give it up for a while. Axel sleeps thru the night now, for the most part, which is awesome!
He loves to stack things and organizes things. I will come check on him when he's playing and he will put the same blocks or balls in one tupperware and another kind in another. It's wierd. Brian said he was a big stack/organizer when he was little-so maybe he's gets it from his daddy? Axel also still really likes his blanket. He carries it around the house and has to have it to go to bed. He loves to make a mess-pulling every thing out cupboards, drawers and toy bins. He isn't very good at putting things away yet! So needless to say I always have a pile of some thing to pick up. He also really understand things now. Like when you say "go get your blanket", he will go across the room and get it. Or "where's your blocks" he will go find every single block he can and bring them to you. It's cool watching him start to really soak things in. Axel also learned then word "NO" well, kinda, when we say "NO NO" (when he's getting into some thing that he shouldn't) he likes to shake his head side to side and smile. It's hard not to laugh or smile back because it's cute. But how do I teach him the meaning of NO? Now what I have been doing is really watching my head and not shake it at all, keep a straight face and I just move him to some thing he can play with. But of course he just crawls back arcoss the room the item I just moves him away from. (My plants are so going to have no soil left this year!) All for now... enjoy the sunny weekend.

Sad news
I have some sad news to pass on. I just found out that the my cousin Travis, who is 24 years old, died last night. I can't believe that some one younger than me died. I haven't seen him in three years, since I lived in Cannon, he would come over for BBQ's once and a while. I'm bummed that I had to work Christmas and didn't get to see him then. I guess from what they can tell his death was related to drugs. It's very unfortunate that his life was cut short because of such a stupid thing. Man, life can get away from you. I hope that all my family is well and is doing okay with this cruddy news. Life is to short....

New pictures!!
Axel got his 1 year pictures done last week and they are ready to view! He was a little crabby, which kinda bummed me out because he's not like that normally, but they turned out pretty good anyways. All I had to do was strip him down! Go to Jess's web site and check them out. http://www.digital-ink-studio.com/ Enter the site, click on the client button (on the bottom right) and type in the password axel. Enjoy! They should be online for 1-2 weeks.

CODE BROWN!!!
So we had our first Code Brown in the bathtub last night! Axel and I wear splashing around like normal and then all of a sudden he gives me this look and .....bloop bloop...two logs comes floating up!! It was SO funny and Gross! Brian was in the garage so I had to yell for him to help me. He came running in the bathroom as I'm yelling CODE BROWN, he looks into the tub and looks back at me and says what is their a pickle in the tub? (Axel really likes peas!!!) Then he realizes that no pickle just poo! I get Axel out and Brian (being the daddy that he is) cleans up the 'pickles'. So from now on when ever Axel gives me that look in the bathtub I guess I should hold him over the toilet or something? At least it wasn't on the floor. To funny...

1 year Stat's!
Axel had his 1 year check up last Monday. He had to get 3 shots. OK I'm going to get on my soap box little for a moment-I HATE that they pin my kid down to give him shots. He turns red, his legs are pinned to the table and he just looks at me like Mom what are you letting them do to me!? Where I work (Pediatrics inpatient) we have some thing called comfort holds!!! Which allows the child to still be in their parent's arms and safely be able to give them a shot. I asked the nurse about comfort holds and she told me that he was to little-WHATEVER!!! Lame, I know that we use them on kiddo's his age. Next time I'm going to be crazy mom who demands that he doesn't get pinned to the table. Grrr.... (maybe I'm over reacting, but I did not like how it was done!)
Okay, I'm stepping off of my soapbox now. Axel checked out great! He's getting another tooth so he's been drooling and has a runny nose. He has been pretty healthy this year, besides a few colds. So that is pretty sweet! Axel weighed 18 lbs and 12 oz and was 28inches long. He's little but very proportionate. He is like at the 2% for weight and 11% for height. He keeps growing, just slowly. He's a great eater so we'll just have to keep offering him good fatty foods! No more problems with the milk, he drinks whole milk like a champ!
Oh..we started a new daycare last week. Axel was at a center but now he's at a home daycare. He's teachers name is Cassie and Axel seems to be doing really well. The two youngest kids at the daycare are boys who are close to his age so he will have a few new buddies to get to know. Daycare is such a stressful decision.... but it's good. (I'll leave it at that or I could go on forever!!!)
Axel is getting so mobile. He walks along every thing and loves to climb up and down the stairs-over and over again! I took down the gate the other week because he is SO interested in any thing that he knows he shouldn't get into. When I showed him the open stairs he crawled to them and turned around right away to go down! It's crazy how smart they are. So now each night we have stair time. It makes me a little nervous that he brings his blanket with him, but I keep a close eye on things. He is so much fun!! Man I'm a sucker for him!! We had pictures taken again from Jess last week. I can't wait to share them with every one!!
