Wisdom teeth

Axel got his wisdom teeth removed.

All four wisdom teeth removed. He did really well. Woke up good, not much nausea and seems to be healing well. About four days after his face was pretty bruised.

This was the first attempt. We tried to get his wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago in the clinic but his airway reacted and they stopped. They said they don’t have emergency management for kids down town (Mayo Clinic) so we would have to come back and have the teeth removed in the OR and St. Mary’s Hospital where they take care of kids more.

Ansel’s cacti

Ansel has been wanting to plant a new cactus all summer. We finally got around to it. He got to pick out a few little cacti and found the pot at home. I wish I would have taken pictures during the process but didn’t think of it. The top sand on the pot was sand that we gathered when we went to Moab. We had one small water bottle with sand that has been under the sink since 2013 or 2014? :) fun to remember it and have a use for it!

Yummy!

First college tour

Axel had his first college tour. We started at Augsburg University. This is where I went . #alumni

I was excited to learn more about the traditional college pathway - living in dorms and all. I never lived in a dorm. It was fun to start the conversations with Axel. What does he think his future will look like and what pathways he wants to take. He is a typical 11th grader- he does not know what he wants to do. That’s ok- some of us are still figuring that out.

It was a lovely positive day. I think Axel started out thinking the visit was going to be ‘lame’ but turned out interesting and may have even lit a fire on future goals. Augsburg really hit the mark. We talked Computer Science degrees, saw the classrooms and dorms and was cheered on that it’s obtainable. The campus is perfect - small campus right outside of the city. Average  classroom sizes are 16- that is awesome. Axel really liked it. It was a great start to finding his next spot and chapter. So scary and fun to get to do this with my kiddo :)
