Raspberry jam

1st batch of Raspberry jam

The daily harvest
Our raspberry bushes have been booming this year!  We have been getting bowls full daily!  We decided to try and make some jelly.  It was pretty easy and seems like it turned out great.  It has to sit for 24 hours before I can try it.  I love growing things and then turning them into some thing we can eat later!

WIS Dells

We went to WIS Dells last weekend.  Long story short, we sold the RV the week before (RV was fun while it lasted but it was time to try a new way to adventure- goodbye Brake down Betty) so we canceled the RV spot we and booked a hotel room.  I was excited to stay in a hotel and not the RV.  Mount Olympus is the placed we picked.  This was our first time at WIS Dells.  I liked the idea of all in one hotel, theme park, go carts and water park.  To bad the inside part was closed- not because of COVID but because of construction.  It rained all day Saturday but we still made the most of it.  Root beer museum, beef jerky museum, Ripley's believe or not, alligator park and a movie (Jungle cruise).  We had a fun super busy weekend.  Mount Olympus was just ok, after checking out the area we found much nicer places to stay that all had their indoor parks open.  Next year we will have more time to plan.

This is the reality of the road trip with my kids!  Before we got to WIS:  two had bloody noses (who knows why?) and one puked in the car....and then again until we got there.  The boys have forgotten how to travel in a car!

Ripley's Believe it or Not

Ripley's Believe it or not was under whelming....
Duck boat ride!
My favorite part of the trip

From land to water- so cool

Back on land!

Old rusty boats or ducks?

Hanging around at the hotel

Go carts!
Another favorite part!

Each boy got to drive!

Ansel's first roller coaster
Axel and I went on some bigger ones. No pictures of those- didn't want to loose my phone.

More Go carts

The arcade

Then the rain hit...boo

The boys talked me into the Alligator park

At least they were in cages

snakes are SO gross

huge turtles

this guy was kinda cool- still no pets were coming home with us!

Super gross!

Quick story of this guy.  When you enter the park you get a chance to buy food to feed one of the animals.  Of course the boys wanted to do this.  They pick a mouse.  I agree, why?  I have no idea, we were having a kid fun weekend.  Any ways, they lady ends up bringing out a LIVE mouse and throws it in the cage. Whoo... the oldest and the youngest think that it was super cool and couldn't wait to see it get eaten.  Abel and me did not like it.  Abel started to cry a little and wanted me to save the mouse- he even named it Frank.  Ok, we have seen the mouse for like 10 seconds before it gets thrown into the cage and he named it! Agg, my sweet boy.  Of course at this point the mouse was already sacrificed to the gator.  I had to have him turn around and not watch and remind him the circle of life.  He was so bummed, I was bummed the other two were thrilled.   That got deep super fast.

Yes, I took a picture of it hunting down Frank the mouse, again why??  I don't know.  The stuff these boys talk me into!

Poor mouse, I'm sorry and will NEVER do that again!

Now lets transition to a better time of the day.  Dinner at a delicious restaurant.  Street tacos , fancy drinks and a happier mood.

Well... until Abel threw up again.  This time day two, who knows why, in the lobby of the restaurant!  Maybe it was the tacos, the fancy drinks or that earlier in the  day I brought him to a animal sacrifice?  Man traveling with kids is so great and so much work!
Axel's choices at the beef jerky museum- I did NOT try these ones

The duck boats

and to wrap it up, I held a alligator! Major boy mom points!

What a weekend.  It is always good to have kid centered fun but I'm exhausted.  We did get to do a small amount of water park fun on Sunday before we went home.  The lines were longer then I like, I still get a little anxious still with too many people.  I can't help but think about germs, foot fungi and other gross things.  Next year I will wear water shoes and be a little less germ focused- I hope!  WIS dells thanks for a fun time!
