We celebrated the 4th of July on the North Shore. It was a wonderful trip. Axel decided to stay home because the fair was in town, and it was his friends B-day. We let him choose to come or stay. I understand that at 8th grade hitting some of the major social events are important :) I'm happy that he gets to hang with friends again and having Grandma in our house makes it super easy to have him stay at home. Thank Grandma Ann for being his driver for the weekend. The four of us went to the North Shore with out Axel. We stopped at a few of the State Parks and did LOT's of hiking around. We camped in Grand Marais. I think this is my new favorite spot. The camp site was amazing. You could see and hear the lake and the sea gulls! It was walking distance to town which was super fun. We toured the little town, got pizza, fudge and doughnuts! We burnt it all off with the many hikes and rock climbing. It was a perfect little town to celebrate the 4th. We ended up right next to the spot where they fire off the fireworks. It seriously was the BEST ever. The fireworks were right over us and we got to stay right at our camp site. The North Shore is one of my happy places and I loved sharing with the boys (at least 2 of them).
