Hearing screen

Axel had a Dr appointment today. He loves his doctor- Dr Cristiani. He weighs in at 36 pounds and 3 feet 7 inchs tall. He is 25% in both weight and hieght. He also had to have a vision and hearing screen done with his visit. He did great at the vision screen- 20/20 vision. He had to look at a chart with shapes and call them out the boths eyes open and having each one closed. Here's hoping he gets his dad's vision and he never needs glasses like Mom.
After the vision screen Axel had to do a hearing test. The nurse put headphones on him and then he had to point to the word that he heard. It seems like his hearing is spot on.  Did you hear that Axel?! No more excuses of not hearing us. :) The doctor said the Axel was hitting all the marks that she wouldn't have to see him until he was 7! Of course unless there was a reason.
Getting ready for bed. Baths done and now getting our nails checked.

5th Birthday

Axel's 5th Birthday at the Mall of America.

Axel was so brave on the rides. I couldn't believe he wanted to go on this one. He just made the height requirement this year. Most of the rides stated you had to be 42" to ride-Axel measured out to be 42.5". He was so excited to be able to go on rides with just his cousin Ethan.

Playing a couple games.
Of course you have to end the day with cupcakes! Each person got to pick out their own kind. Axel picked one with a gummy worm on top with lot's of chocolate.
It was a fun day playing around the mall, eating pizza and cupcakes and even gettting a new DS game on the way out. Thanks to Ethan, Tracy, Grandma and Grandpa for coming with.

Axel

Happy 5th Birthday to Axel. I've been meaning to post Bday pictures but just have been falling behind. I can't believe another year has gone by. Axel sure had a busy year.

*went to Homer AK.
*went paning for Gold (Girdwood AK)
*saw a moose- well lots of them! And many other creatures- bison, goats, eagles, sea stars and salmon delivered to our house all summer.
*loved mountain climbing/hiking- really started hiking well this year.
*wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up
*hated leaving Alaska but loves living in MN
*loves being a big brother
*has so many questions about everything!
*loves anything outside

What a year Axel! 5 already?! Okay you can slow down now. Love you :)

Sick on Christmas

We had a punky little boy on Christmas. Abel started having fevers on the 23rd and continued for 4 days. Christmas was full of family time but he was not himself- he sat on one of our laps. We brought him back to the clinic on Thursday morning. (I met them at the office after working a night shift) The doctor thought he was working hard to breath, he was retracting and his O2 sats were low. Then she said the dreaded words.... I would like to admit your child to the hospital. So back to my old floor we went- via an ambulance ride even! Abel hated the ride- if he only knew how cool his brother would have thought the ride was.

Abel spent three nights in the hospital. He had neb treatments every 2 hours and was swabbed positive for Influenza B. Yes he has had the flu shot this year! He was such a good boy in the hospital. He was boried and liked walking the hallways with his mask on carring his blanket. We got to bust out on Sunday. It was nice being all together at home for the New years.
                                                                  Happy New Year!
